On the occasion of Durga Puja, import-export trade will be closed for four consecutive days through Benapole-Petrapol land port. However, the unloading of goods at Benapole Custom House and Port and the passage of passport passengers between Bangladesh and India will be normal during this holiday.

Karthik Chakraborty, general secretary of the C&F Agents Staff Welfare Association, Petrapole Port, India, said all import-export trade with Benapole Port would be closed from October 12 to October 15 on the occasion of Durga Puja. Import-export trade will resume from the morning of October 16.Mofizur Rahman Swajan, president of the Benapole C&F Agents Association, said in a letter from the C&F on the other hand that the import-export trade would be closed for four consecutive days due to the Durga Puja holiday through the port of Petrapole.

Saifur Rahman Mamun, Revenue Officer, Benapole Customs Checkpost Cargo Branch, said, “Customs authorities and C&F agents on the other side have informed us that import and export between the two countries will be suspended from October 12 to October 15 due to Durga Puja holiday.” Even if import-export is stopped, loading-unloading and customs work will continue in the port.

Imports and exports between the two countries will resume from the morning of October 16.Mohammad Raju Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Benapole Immigration, said that even if the transport of goods through Benapole is closed due to the Puja holiday, the passage of passport holders with India will remain normal.
