Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Md. Tajul Islam said, a lot of development can be done according to the utility of Rajshahi region. It is a suitable place to build a beautiful city by developing settlements, infrastructure and communication systems. If the ongoing development in the region is implemented, Rajshahi will be transformed into a unique city in the country.

He was speaking to reporters after visiting Rajshahi on Saturday and inspecting the implemented and ongoing development works under Rajshahi City Corporation and other government agencies.

The Minister said that many allocations have already been made by the Ministry for the development of Rajshahi and more allocations will be made if necessary in the interest of development. The mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation is trying to develop here in a very planned manner.

He said if any project is taken from the city corporation for the future economic and social development of the city, it will be approved after scrutiny. However, the people should be kept in mind while taking up any project. Because all development is for the welfare of the people.

City Corporation Mayor AHMS Khairuzzaman Liton, Secretary to the Government Department Helaluddin Ahmed, Chief Engineer of LGED and Public Health Engineering Department, Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners and officials of different organizations and local leaders were present during the visit.

Earlier, a meeting was held with the concerned departments and agencies on the ongoing development activities in Rajshahi Division under the Local Government Division at Circuit House.
