Police rescued a 20-year-old woman, who was allegedly molested and tortured by three youths and even possibly raped, from the Akbarshah area in Chattogram this noon (May 7, 2022), police say. After being rescued, the victim was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH)'s One-Stop Crisis Centre for the medical examination, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent quoting Jahir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Akbarshah Police Station.

Following an altercation with the parents, the girl left her residence in Cumilla and arrived in Akbarshah thana area in Chattogram by a bus and later fell prey to the trio, the police official said quoting the victim. OC Jahir Hossain said the incident took place at a rented house of one Azim, at the foot of a hill behind the NR Steel Mill.

Locals informed police about the incident following which police rescued the girl and sent her to CMCH," said the OC. "During the primary investigation, police learned that she arrived in Akbarshah from Cumilla yesterday. The three accused lured her to send her home back and took her to an area nearby and tortured her," said the OC. "She might have been raped but we cannot not confirm anything now as she is now senseless. We are trying to detain the culprits," the OC said. The filing of a case in this regard is underway, added the police official.
