A man allegedly slit the throat of his daughter-in-law following family dispute at Senbagh upazila of Noakhali. 

The incident took place at Abdul Mannan's new house in Itbaria village of the upazila around 11am on Sunday. The deceased identified as Chayera Khatun alias Rekha, wife of Md. Babul, a Kuwait expatriate and daughter of Hanif of Manikpur village of Ajuntala UP. 

Senbagh Police Station OC Abdul Baten Mridha said Babul, a Kuwaiti expatriate, got married to Rekha 18 years ago. Rekha's father-in-law first stabbed her with a sharp knife during a family quarrel. He then slit her throat and killed her.

He added that the body of the deceased was recovered at noon and sent to the Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Attempts are being made to arrest the accused.
