Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained an old man named Gura Mia along with yaba worth Tk 10.5 crore in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar.

Detainee Gura Mia is the son of Badiur Rahman of Paschimpara in Hariakhali of Sabrang union of upazila. RAB-7 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mashiur Rahman Jewel on Saturday confirmed the information.

He said a large consignment of yaba was stored at the house of Hafez Ullah alias Bhutto on the west side of the Rawjatul Uloom Mosque in Hariakhali, Ward 3, Sabrang Union, Teknaf. On such info, RAB launched an operation there on Friday evening. Gura Mia was arrested when he tried to flee after sensing the presence of the RAB. According to him, two lakh yaba was recovered from a plastic bag specially hidden on the ceiling of the tin-shed.

Mashiur Rahman Jewel also said that another 1.5 lakh yaba was recovered from the back porch of fugitive accused Ismail's house with rice hanging in a special way. The estimated market value of the recovered yaba is Tk 10.5 crore.

Teknaf Model Police Station OC Mohammad Hafizur Rahman said the arrested Gura Mia was sent to the Cox's Bazar Magistrate's Court on Saturday afternoon.
