A prisoner named Farhad Hossain alias Rubel has fled from Chattogram Central Jail. No trace of the prisoner has been found since Saturday morning.

The jail authorities have lodged a General Diary (GD) with the Kotwali police station as they failed to track him till evening.

According to the GD filed by Chattogram Central Prison Senior Superintendent Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan, Farhad came to the jail on February 9 in a murder case at Sadarghat police station. He has not been found since Saturday morning. His detention number is 2547.

Deputy Inspector General of Prison (DIG Prison) Fazlul Haque said that Farhad was not found despite many searches. A committee will be formed to investigate the incident. A report has been sought from the jail superintendent. Action will be taken against those involved after receiving that.
