At least four people were killed at Hathazari in Chattogram on Friday after clashing with the police.Students of Hathazari Madrasa clashed with police after Friday prayers following the attack on protesters at Baitul Mukarram in the capital. Several people were injured in this incident. Of them, four people died after they were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, police said.

ASI Alauddin Talukder of Chattogram Medical College Hospital police outpost said doctors declared four of the injured dead after they were admitted to different wards. The identities of the dead could not be known.

Police said the protesters hurled brickbats at the Hathazari police station and police fired blank shots to disperse them. Several people were injured at the time. After that, when the students of the madrasa blocked the road around 2.30 pm, the traffic on Hathazari-Nazirhat road was stopped.

Hathazari UNO Ruhul Amin said the students also attacked the Hathazari police station, land office and Dak bungalow. Additional police have been deployed to bring the situation under control.
