Fish and meat prices cannot be made odd in Ramadan Livestock Minister

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim said the prices of fish, meat, milk and eggs could not be made odd in any way ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. It is not possible to hike the price of these, but to reduce them to a tolerable level as much as possible. 

He said the market needs to maintain stability. At the same time, the supply chain must be kept normal. In that case, the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Livestock will provide all the necessary assistance to those concerned. 

He was addressing a meeting at the conference room of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock at the Secretariat in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

He also said that 10 vans will be provided at the district level for mobile sales at the initiative of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock to keep the prices of fish, meat, milk and eggs stable during the month of Ramadan. With the help of the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Livestock, farmers will be able to buy and sell their products through these vans. 

The minister further said that the prices of commodities go down during major religious festivals in different countries of the world. It is possible to find a way to keep commodity prices stable during Ramadan. If necessary, the amount of profit in the business should be reduced at this time. It is also possible to make your organization more attractive to buyers by discounting the price of the product at certain times.

The minister requested the representatives of the super shop to fix lower prices for the sale of fish, meat, milk, and eggs.

Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Rawnak Mahmud, Director General of the Department of Livestock Dr. Abdul Jabbar Sikder, Director General of Fisheries Department Kazi Shams Afroz, Chairman of Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation Kazi Hasan Ahmed, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Shah Md. Imdadul Haque and others participated at the event.
