The migration of mother fish has increased in Halda river, a natural fish breeding center. In the last few days, the mother fish has started laying sample eggs. However, the collecting fishermen are waiting to collect the full eggs. Brood fish in the Halda have released sample eggs -- indicating full spawning -- since last night (May 14, 2022) at various points of the river. The locations are natural spawning grounds for carp-like fish.

Collectors got 200-500 grams of eggs yesterday from the river, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent. Ashu Barua from Madunaghat area, a seasoned egg collector, told  that they started coming across the eggs on last night and hope to see full spawning soon. Professor Manzoorul Kibria, a researcher on Halda, told this correspondent that these are sample eggs laid by brood fish in preparation for a full spawning.
