Bangabandhu’s portrait in cropland gets visible

The portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, painted on 120 bighas of cropland in Balenda village of Bhabanipur union in Sherpur upazila of Bogura is now getting visible gradually. This is the largest portrait in the world through grain artwork.

The planting of purple and green Janakraj rice seedlings imported from China was inaugurated on January 29 to make the portrait of Bangabandhu in the land. After that, 140 local women workers planted paddy saplings till February 1-15. The seedlings of this paddy tree are now growing and the portrait (picture) of Bangabandhu is also becoming visible. When the portrait is fully visible, it will get a place in the Guinness World Records, the concerned people said.

It is learned that the size of the portrait of Bangabandhu in the grain picture is 12 lakh 92 thousand square feet. It will be 400 meters long and 300 meters wide, which will be the largest grain art in the world. The latest grain painting made in China in 2019 was 8 lakh 55 thousand 786 square feet. 

At the initiative of the National Assembly formed on the occasion of Mujib Year, the initiative was taken to create this artwork to present the agricultural sector and agriculture of Bangladesh to the world. It is being funded by National Agricare Private Company.

Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Awami League central committee joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim inaugurated the huge event on January 29.

Bahauddin Nasim told Daily Bangladesh that the planting of paddy started on January 29 in Bogura to draw the portrait of Bangabandhu. Now this rice seedling is growing and the portrait (picture) of Bangabandhu is emerging. The whole nation will once again see the Father of the Nation on the map of Bangladesh through this huge work on 120 bighas of land and that will be a new history in the world. 

He further said that since Bangabandhu was a farmer-friendly leader, the Bengali nation is generously creating this huge work of art to commemorate him on the birth centenary. As well as this grain image so that it can take place in the Guinness Book of World Records. This work of art is being done in compliance with all the conditions of Guinness authorities. The portrait of Bangabandhu has started to emerge through the grain paintings. So tomorrow we will go to see the artwork.

Krishak League president Krishibid Samir Chanda said, “If all goes well, the huge work may be inaugurated on March 17 on Bangabandhu's birthday. To commemorate the birth centenary of the father of the nation, the world's largest portrait of Bangabandhu is being painted in the grain artwork.”

Mostafizur Rahman Shyamal, managing director of National Agricare, said “100 students from different schools and colleges in Bogura and members of the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) laid out the portrait in about 1,200 poles on dry land.”

He said preliminary work on the project began last December. Awami League leaders in charge inaugurated it on January 29. As the rice seedlings have grown, Bangabandhu's portrait has already emerged.
