A woman and her four-year-old granddaughter were killed after a truck hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw on the Bogura-Rangpur highway in Gaibandha today. The accident happened at the Dublagari area of Palashbari upazila around 5:30 pm, reports our Bogura correspondent quoting locals and police.

The deceased were identified as Shefali begum (50) and Maisha (4), residents of the upazila. "The Bogura-bound truck hit the auto-rickshaw, leaving Shefali and Maisha dead on the spot," Palashbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Masud Rana said, quoting locals. "We have handed over the bodies to the family members. The truck was seized but its driver and his helper managed to flee the spot," said the OC.
