The day is October 8, 2019, at Sher-e-Bangla Hall, BCL activists beat to death Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of BUET's Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department. His father Barkatullah then filed a murder case with the Chawkbazar police station and his application was granted and the case was transferred to the speedy trial tribunal.

Judge Abu Jafar Kamruzzaman of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 announced the verdict of this shocking murder today. Out of 25 accused, 20 were given a death sentence and 5 were given life imprisonment. However, 22 people were produced in court today, three of them fugitives.

The convicts are- Mehedi Hasan Russell, Anik Sarkar, Mujtaba Rafid, Mehedi Hasan Robin, Ifti Mosharraf Sakal, Moniruzzaman Monir, Meftahul Islam Zion, Mahmud Setu, Majedur Rahman, Mujahidur Rahman, Hossain Mohammad Toha, Shamim Billah, Shamim Billah, Nazim, Muntasir Al Jemi, Mizanur Rahman, Shamsul Arifin Rafat, Morshed Omrato Islam, Ehtesamul Rabbi, Morshed Uzzaman Zeeshan and Tabakhairul Islam Tanvir.
