HSC Exams Kick Off Peacefully in Dohar

Shahidul Islam Sharif, Staff Reporter

In line with the rest of the country, the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), HSC (Vocational), and Alim examinations under the Madrasa Education Board for 2026 began today in a peaceful atmosphere across Dohar Upazila in Dhaka.

According to the Upazila Secondary Education Office, a total of 1,126 examinees were registered across four centers in the upazila this year. On the first day, 1,111 candidates appeared for the exams, while 15 remained absent. No expulsions were reported from any center on day one.

The center-wise statistics of the examinees are as follows:

Joypara College: Out of 831 registered candidates, 817 were present and 14 were absent. Padma Government College: The center recorded a 100% attendance rate, with all 195 candidates participating in the exam. Joypara Technical School and College: All 40 registered HSC (Vocational) candidates appeared for the exam, reporting zero absences. Joypara Mahmudia Alim Madrasa: Out of 60 registered Alim candidates, 59 were present and one was absent.

Meanwhile, a massive crowd of guardians and well-wishers was seen outside the examination centers both before and after the exam hours. In particular, the huge gathering of parents in front of the Joypara College gate, coupled with an influx of various vehicles—mostly battery-powered auto-rickshaws—triggered severe traffic congestion on the adjacent roads. This caused temporary inconvenience to public transport and commuters.

Despite the brief traffic issues on the roads, the first day of the examinations concluded smoothly and peacefully without any untoward incidents.
