1 percent of the country`s people vaccinated

One percent of the country's population has been vaccinated against coronavirus, said ASM Alamgir, chief scientific officer of the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR).

He came up with the remarks joining at the Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum (BHRF) dialogue program on 'Corona Infection Activities and Vaccines' on Friday.

Dr. Alamgir said that out of the countries being vaccinated, more than 15 countries have been able to vaccinate over one percent of the total population. Bangladesh is one of them. Israel has vaccinated just over one percent of the population, but their population is much smaller. The UK has been able to vaccinate 23 percent of the total population. Although India started the vaccination program before us, it could not reach that target due to its large population.

Bangladesh launched vaccination program against coronavirus on February 7. Since then, 18,48,313 people have been vaccinated till February 18, which is more than one percent of the total population.

Forum President Tawfiq Maruf Presented the program. UGC Professor and Prime Minister's Personal Physician Professor Dr. ABM Abdullah, President of the Independence Medical Council and a member of the National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 Professor Iqbal Arsalan, Ekushey Padak-winning microbiologist Professor Dr. Sameer Kumar Saha and member of the Public Health Advisory Committee of the Department of Health Dr. Abu Jamil Faisal spoke on the occasion among others.
