Bangladesh reported 102 coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day spike, raising the total number of deaths to 10,385, according to the official figures.

Besides, 3,698 Covid-19 cases were confirmed during the period. With the latest, the total number of cases surged to 7,18,950. Among the dead, 59 are males while 43 are female.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) informed this in a press release on Sunday (April 18, 2021).A total of 19,404 samples were tested at 227 authorized laboratories across the country during the time, the press release added.

In the past 24 hours, another 6,121 people were discharged from the hospital, raising the total number of cured patients to 6,14,936. Earlier, 3,473 COVID-19 patients and 101 deaths related to the disease were reported yesterday.

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
