Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal said the government is providing all possible assistance for the development of the capital market. This time the budget has also been given policy support based on the views of market participants.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting titled ‘Golden Jubilee of Independence: Achievements and Prospects of Bangladesh’s Capital Market in the Light of Bangabandhu’s Dream’ organized by Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Tuesday.

The finance minister said, “There is now strong management in the capital market. Bring in the infrastructure that is needed for the capital market and we are doing it. But you will come up with a policy that will make the capital market better. Don’t bring anything we can’t keep.”

DSE Chairman Md Eunusur Rahman presided over the online meeting, which was attended by special guests - Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Senior Secretary Md. Asadul Islam of Financial Institutions Division, BSEC Commissioner Prof. Sheikh Samsuddin Ahmed and Prof. Mizanur Rahman.

Acting Managing Director of DSE Abdul Matin Patwari also addressed the meeting. Former Chairman of DSE Prof. Abul Hashem, Director of DSE Shakil Rizvi and President of DSE Brokers Association Sharif Anwar Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
