Attappadi: The Tamil Nadu Q branch police captured Maoist leader Sreemathi from a house near Anakkatti, here on Wednesday morning.

A native of Chikkamagaluru in Karnataka, Sreemathi was involved in the encounter with police at Manjakkandi in October 2019. The police initially believed she was killed in the encounter.

However, as relatives could not identify her body, police suspected that Sreemathi managed to escape and restarted the investigations.

Earlier, the Thunderbolt had issued a lookout notice for Sreemathi, who had been working for the Kabani wing of CPI-ML (Maoist). Sreemathi has a five-year-old daughter.

The Q branch had taken Dipak, who was with Sreemathi, into custody on November 7, 2019.
