MP Zakia Tabassum Jui, who was injured in a clash between lawyers in Dinajpur, is being taken to Dhaka for better treatment.

She was sent to Dhaka from Dinajpur Sadar Hospital on Saturday afternoon. At the time, MP Jui said some of the supporters of Nuruzzaman Jahani, former president of the District Bar Association, and Tahidul Islam, former general secretary, had planned to attack us with terrorists.

“They entered their room and tried to assassinate the current president Advocate Mazaharul Islam and general secretary Advocate Saiful Islam. When I rushed to save them, the terrorists physically assaulted me,” she also said.

MP Jui added that Tk 1 crore has been provided from the government fund of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Tk 50 lakh from the personal fund of the Law Minister and Tk 50 lakh from the local MP. “Out of that – the leaders of the former committee have squandered about Tk 60 lakh. They caused the incident for asking that money.”

President of the Bar Association Advocate Mazaharul Islam, general secretary Advocate Saiful Islam, PP Rabiul Islam Robi, Special PP Shamsur Rahman Parvez and others were present at the time.

It is to be mentioned that the general meeting of the executive committee of Dinajpur District Bar Association held on Thursday with 9 agendas including an extension of the term of the committee and prevention of corruption. 

At that time, the leaders of the former committee went to the meeting place, obstructed and threatened to close the meeting.

At one stage of the argument, a clash between the two sides took place. At least 15 people were injured in the clash. Later, the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
