Iran regains voting rights in UN General Assembly by paying 16.2 million dollars in annual arrears.

Majid Takht Ravanchi, Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, said in a Twitter post on Friday that after six months of working on the issue, the UN announced on Friday that it had received the arrears.

Majid Takht Ravanchi said the complication was created to pay the dues due to unilateral and illegal US sanctions. The US embargo not only deprived the people of the right to buy essential goods and medicines but also the annual arrear to the UN could not be paid.

Iran's ambassador said that all inhumane sanctions on his country must be lifted now. However, the UN has not yet said anything about it.
