Gold price rises slightly

Gold prices have risen again in the world market after falling for several weeks. In the last week, the price of gold in the world market has hiked by 1.8 percent.

Dilip Kumar Agarwala, general secretary of the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (Bajus), told the media that if the trend of rising gold prices in the world market continues, the price of gold will also increase in the country's market.

He said, “We have reduced the price of gold twice in the country’s market this month. But now there is a trend of rising gold prices in the world market. If this rising trend continues, the price of gold will be increased in the country's market in coordination with the world market.”

Gold prices fell 5.94 percent in February. The downward trend in February was also seen earlier this month. In the first week of March, the price of gold in the world market decreased by 1.88 percent. In this continuous fall, the price of gold went to its lowest level in last 9 months.

Bangladesh Jewelers Association (Bajus) has reduced the price of gold in the country's market twice this month due to the big fall in the world market. The gold traders' association last reduced the price of gold by Tk 2,041 on March 10.
