Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games 2020 football (men's) event has been inaugurated in Cumilla today. The competition was inaugurated at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in the district on Saturday. Cumilla District Sports Association is implementing the competition under the management of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA).

Eight district teams, BKSP and Bangladesh Army are participating in the competition. Two games were held on the first day. In the first game, Satkhira district team defeated Cumilla district team by 3-0. Sumon, Zakir and Mahananda scored one goal each for this team. Rangpur and BKSP played in the second match of the day.

Earlier, district sports body president and deputy commissioner Md Kamrul Hasan inaugurated the competition by flying balloons at 1.30 pm on Saturday. District Football Association President Arfanul Haque Rifat presided over the function.

General Secretary of Cumilla District Sports Association Nazmul Ahsan Faruk Romen, General Secretary of Athletics Federation Abdul Rakib Montu, Member of BFF Abdul Wadud Pintu, and General Secretary of Cumilla District Football Association Badal Khandaker spoke on the function. Delwar Hossain Zakir, a member of Cumilla District Football Association conducted the program.
