40 militant gates in Jamalpur 15 years of imperialism

A local court today sentenced five active members of the banned militant outfit JMB to 15 years in prison. At the same time, each of them was fined Tk 15,000 and would have to be in jail for 18 more months if they failed to pay it.

District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Zahirul Kabir pronounced the verdict on Wednesday afternoon. Additional PP Advocate Khwaja Alam confirmed the information.

According to case details, RAB-9 arrested the five militants on August 15, 2009, while they were preparing to carry out sabotage activities at Azizul Haque's house at Bandho Chithlia village of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila. Iron pipes, glass bottles, and a large number of jihadi books were recovered at that time. Later, RAB DAD M Jahangir Alam filed a case against them.

They were sentenced to 15 years imprisonment following the testimony of 9 people in the case. Four accused were present before the court during the verdict. While the fifty accused is still fugitive.
