A local court today sentenced two people to death and 13 others to life imprisonment in a case filed for killing two people in Sunamganj over the previous enmity over 20 years ago.Sunamganj Additional Sessions Judge Nurul Alam Mohammad Nipu handed down the verdict on Thursday afternoon.

Public Prosecutor of Sunamganj District and Dayda Judge's Court Shamnur Nahar Begum Shahana Rabbani confirmed the matter. 

The death convicts are Abdul Hannan alias Jatra Mia and Shamsuddin alias Shamsu Mia while the lifers - Abdul Mannan, Inu Mia, Renu Mia, Hamdu Mia, Afzal Mia, Jalal Uddin, Abdun Nur, Sabuj Mia, Babul Mia, Alkas Mia, Badal Mia, Rahmat Ali and Manu Mia. 

According to case the details, there was a previous dispute between the two parties over the domination at Kamdevpur village in Tahirpur upazila. As a result, on March 18, 2000, one of the men was beaten by the other. 
On the following day, Arpan Ali and Motiur Rahman were shot dead by the rival group people on the way to a arbitration arranged over the previous day's incident.

Later, a case was lodged with Tahirpur Police Station in this connection against 28 people.Following investigation, police submitted a charge sheet against 37 people on March 31, 2001.
