An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) named Rafiqul Islam(57), who was admitted to hospital after falling ill while working in Comilla on friday, has died.

When he suddenly fell ill, he was taken to the Central Police Hospital (CPH) in Rajarbagh. He died at 5:20 a.m. on Saturday (May 15). The house of the late Khandaker Rafiqul Islam is at Bancharampur in Brahmanbaria district. He served in the police force for 34 years.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Homna Police Station Mohammad Abul Kayesh Akand said Rafiqul Islam left the police station around 1:00 pm on Friday night to arrest an accused on a warrant. When he suddenly fell ill while on duty, he was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex. Seeing the deteriorating condition there, he was taken to Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital in the capital at night. 
Doctors on duty declared him dead at 5:20 am on Saturday.

The death of ASI on Eid night is very pathetic.
