Dredger machine is extracting sand from Jamuneshwari river in Badarganj of Rangpur. The critical condition of the bridge built at a cost of Tk 12 crore by the Roads and Urban Development (RHD) Department over the Jamuneshwari River in the Nagerhat area of ​​the Mithapukur-Phulbari Highway, which is at serious risk.

Illegal extraction of sand from the river is causing extensive damage to farmland and plants and even houses. 
Meanwhile, crop land is being swallowed by river erosion every year during the monsoon season.Local influential people are extracting sand from the river by installing shallow machines. Again, some people are claiming their land from Balu Mahal and selling sand freely year after year.

Due to illegal extraction of sand, crop lands along the river bank in the area are being eroded and disappearing into the river. 
As a result, the land owners of the area are losing their land day by day and becoming destitute. 
Not only that, Mithapukur Phulbari Highway and the bridge over the river Jamuneshwari are under great threat.

But the concerned administration is indifferent to stop sand extraction. 
Occasionally a day or two is limited to Daisara expeditions. Meanwhile, as the highway and the bridge are under threat, on the other hand, the communication system is also collapsing.

It is heard that some leaders and activists of the ruling party and UP members are directly and indirectly involved in the looting and sale of sand. Locals claimed that Alhaz Atiyar Rahman Dulu's brother-in-law Larju and his son Nahid were looting sand worth Tk 50,000 to Tk 60,000 every day.

Badarganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habibur Rahman said police were sent every day to illegally extract sand from the river and protect government property. 
But it is not possible to stop the sand mining even after the police operation.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Shukria Parveen was contacted by phone.  She told the media that contact with UNO. Then she hung up the phone.

The sand miners have become more reckless as there is no active role of the government.Meanwhile, accidents are constantly happening due to the reckless speed of small and big vehicles carrying sand on the road. 
These tractor riders have no training. 
It has been seen that 14/15 years old children are also the drivers of this car.

Locals allege that the headmaster of the government primary school, public representatives and leaders and activists of the ruling party have been selling sand worth lakhs of  money from the river in the Nagerhat area of ​​Kutubpur Union every day.

The government is not paying any attention to this anarchy. As a result, the common people are suffering.
