Two auto passengers were killed and three others injured as a reckless truck hit a CNG-run auto at Manohardi in Narsingdi.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Manohardi highway on Saturday morning. 

The deceased were identified as Mamun, son of Gias Uddin of Budda village in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj and Achia Begum, wife of Kamal Uddin of Dulalpur village in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi. The injured were identified as Alamin, Aleha Begum and Shahidul Islam.

According to the locals, a soil-laden truck hit the autorickshaw when it reached Dhaka-Manohardi highway. Mamun was killed on the spot while Achia was declared dead when she was taken to hospital. The injured have been shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Manohardi Police Station OC Mohammad Anichur Rahman said the driver could not be apprehended as the truck hit the autorickshaw and fled. The body was recovered from the spot.
