Police arrested a driver for killing a female worker of a ceramic factory after raping her inside a moving staff bus of the factory early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Momota Akter, 19, daughter of Shahjahan Khan of Kathalia village under Kushura union.

The victim was a worker of Dautia Prateek Ceramic Factory.

Police arrested the driver Sohel from Amta area of Dhamrai on Friday.

According to the police and family sources, the girl got into the staff bus of the factory from Hijulikhola bus stand around 4 am on Friday and went missing.

Being informed by her family members, police started searching the victim and at one stage, the law enforcers detained Sohel. During primary interrogation, Sohel admitted that he violated the girl inside the bus as she was alone then.

After raping her, Sohel strangled her to death by her scarf and dumped the body near Hijulikhola Government Primary School.

Confirming the news, Bowalipara police outpost In-Charge Rasel Mollah said: "Being informed, we have detained the rapist and acting on his information, we recovered the body of the victim early Saturday."

"Further investigation is underway," he added.
