Bangladesh is a bright example of peace in the present world, said the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen.

He said this in a video message on the fourth day of the ten-day program titled ‘Mujib Chirantan’ on Saturday.

He greeted the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of independence. At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to President Mohammad Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

At the beginning of his speech, Al-Othaimeen recalled the victory of Bangladesh in the 1971 War of liberation. He said Bangladesh got independence in 1971. In 1974, the Father of the Nation decided to include Bangladesh as a member of the OIC.

The Father of the Nation attended the second OIC conference in 1974 and was instrumental in building a good relationship between Bangladesh and the Muslim world. Since then, its relations with Islamic countries have been extremely cordial. He has also played an important role in maintaining a peaceful environment in the Muslim world.

The OIC secretary general said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dreamed of transforming the newly independent country Bangladesh into a golden Bengal. His worthy daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is now trying to make that dream a reality. Under whose leadership Bangladesh is now a bright example of world peace.
