Issuance of memorandum with the Prime Minister demanding enactment of Journalist Protection Act

Responding to the call of Bangladesh Mofsbol Journalists Forum (BMSF), a memorandum has been issued to the Hon’ble Prime Minister through the Upazila Nirbahi Officer demanding enactment of Journalist Protection Act on behalf of Sharsha Upazila Journalists of Jessore.

The memorandum was handed over to Mir Alif Reza, Sharsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Jessore, on Tuesday afternoon, October 19, demanding enactment of the Journalist Protection Act. In response to the call of Ahmed Abu Jafar,

General Secretary of Bangladesh Mofsbol Journalists Forum (BMSF), a memorandum has been issued to the Prime Minister on behalf of Trinamool Mofsbol Journalists from different districts and upazilas across the country. In that context, a memorandum was issued from the said Sharsha Upazila along with the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Osman Gani, Khorshed Alam, Mehedi Hasan, Ikramul Islam, SM Abdullah,

Ashraful Sardar and Md. Titu Milon and many others were present during the handing over of the letter.Note: BMSF has been working in the movement for the rights, demands, protection and dignity of journalists. Journalists are constantly facing various problems. Therefore, the protection law is very important for the journalists involved in the profession. Following this, a memorandum has been sent from all over the country along with the Hon’ble Prime Minister demanding enactment of the law.

We hope that he (Prime Minister) will take the initiative in enacting the “Journalist Protection Act”. He added that if the Journalist Protection Act is enacted, the Prime Minister will be conferred the title of ‘Mother of Media’ by journalists across the country. Meanwhile, memorandums were sent by BMSF and journalists’ torture prevention committees, press clubs and other organizations in different districts and upazilas of the country. The leaders of BMSF also announced to continue the movement on this demand.
