Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, has passed away.  He was 75 years old at the time of his death.The ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum made the announcement on Twitter on Wednesday. 

On Twitter, he said, “We belong to God and to Him we shall return … May God have mercy on you, my brother, my support and my companion.”

Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the brother of the current ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has been ill for several months. He became the first Minister of Finance and Industry of the United Arab Emirates in 1971, a position he held until his death.
