Bangladesh Lanka tour schedule finalized

The Bangladesh cricket team will visit Sri Lanka in April to play a two-match Test series. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has finalized the tour schedule. 

According to the schedule, Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the first Test on April 21. The next Test of the series will start on April 29.The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the matter in a press release on Saturday.

Earlier on Sunday, BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan said Bangladesh would visit Sri Lanka on April 12 to play two Test matches under the ICC World Test Championship. The Lankans will visit Dhaka on May 20 where they will play a three-match ODI series. 

Earlier, Bangladesh did not visit Sri Lanka due to strict coronavirus guidelines. Now, the guideline is being relaxed. The guideline of England’s last tour of Sri Lanka will be applicable for Bangladesh. However, cricketers must abide by the quarantine.

It is learned that both the matches of the series against Sri Lanka will be played at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. Although the Test series will be held in Kandy, the Bangladesh team will remain in quarantine in Colombo. The Tigers will go to Kandy, about 120 km away, after completing their quarantine in Colombo.

Colombo is planned to be chosen as a quarantine venue based on its hotel facilities. The Test team will camp in the country for a week before the tour of Sri Lanka.
