Activist killed in Trinamool-BJP clash in West Bengal

The countdown for the Assembly elections has begun. As the polling day progresses, the political heat is increasing. Following this, the incident of political violence caused tension in West Bengal. The death of a Trinamool activist in the Trinamool-BJP clash has caused a stir.

The incident took place in Pindrakuli village of Jhargram in the state. It is learned that the deceased was identified as Durga Soren, 55. The area is currently heated around this incident.

“BJP people were swearing me and my husband in obscene language. That was the onset of the trouble. Later, a clash took place between Trinamool and BJP workers,” said Sakro Soren, wife of the deceased Durga Soren.

On the other hand, BJP member Manik Sau of Aguibani village panchayat complained, “The Trinamool beat my brother Tarak Sau. Now he is admitted to Jhargram District Super Specialty Hospital.” 

“Our activist Durga Soren has died in the violence,” said Jagadish Mahato, president of Trinamool’s Aguibani region, in counter to that remark. 

Durga Soren was rushed to hospital in critical condition. There the doctors declared him dead. Upon receiving the news, a police force led by Superintendent of Police Indira Mukherjee and Additional Superintendent of Police came to Jhargram District Hospital.

“I have heard about the incident. It is not possible to say now what caused the death. It can be said after autopsy. We are investigating the matter,” said Indira Mukherjee, Superintendent of Police of Jhargram District.
