Dhaka Ahsania Mission Declare for Journalists Fellowship on Tobacco Control Issue

Dhaka Ahsania Mission will provide fellowship in anti-tobacco journalism in Bangladesh. The purpose of this fellowship program is to enhance the skills of journalists in preparing and publishing anti-tobacco reports. The main theme of the report will be ' Necessity of Law Amendment in building a tobacco-free Bangladesh'.

A total of 4 fellowships will be awarded in the following fields. These are:

- National Print Media (Bengali and English Dailies)

- Electronic Media (Television & Radio)

- Online Media (Government Approved Online News Portal)

(However, if there is no report received from a specific category, fellowship will be given from other category).

Eligibility of the candidate:

- Journalist working minimum 2 years in national daily newspapers, television, radio and government approved online media

- Experience in publishing anti-tobacco news and reports will be preferred

- Women journalists will be given priority

Rules of application:

- The journalists need to apply by e-mail ([email protected]) with pictures and a short CV by April 25.

- The applicants will have the opportunity to participate in fellowship program through a workshop. To participate in the workshop is a mandatory. 

The selection process:

Selected journalists from the interested ones will be invited for attending the workshop.  Those selected for the workshop will be notified by phone and e-mail.

Publication of Reports:

Fellow journalists will publish the report through his media outlet on his / her own initiative and will send cuttings / links / clippings of the published / disseminated report through e-mail ([email protected]).  One candidate can submit a maximum of 3 reports.

A total of 30 days will be given for publishing the report after participating in the workshop. No report will be accepted after the deadline. Fellowships will be awarded for the top 4 reports selected from the submitted reports. The Fellowship recipient will be awarded a Certificate and Honors as a Fellow in Anti-Tobacco Journalism, subject to successful completion of the assignment (fellowship report).

TK. 20,000 will be paid to each of the 4 selected as honorary fellows.

Note that the decision of the Dhaka Ahsania Mission on any matter related to the fellowship will be final.
