On the issue of coronavirus, 64 Senior Secretaries and Secretaries have been assigned in 64 districts to coordinate healthcare management and other government activities at the district level.  Recently, an office order has been issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in this regard.

According to the office order, the Senior Secretary/Secretaries in charge can involve a suitable number of officials of his ministry/division/office/agency in the coordination work. The appointed officers will coordinate with the local MPs and district council chairmen, public representatives, local media personalities and concerned persons to supervise and monitor the conduct of activities.

The order says it would monitor the law and order situation in the district and make necessary adjustments and inform the concerned Ministry/Division/Office/Agency of the Government in-written about the problems/challenges or other issues received through coordination and regularly inform the Cabinet Division and the PMO’s office.

The order further said that if the office of the Senior Secretary/Secretary becomes vacant due to retirement or transfer, a Senior Secretary/Secretary will be appointed to perform duties.
